Where it all began

It looked a little different then, but this is where Mati started out – 26 years ago. With just a small number of farmers, a vision and the faith in our project, namely to reduce poverty by empowering the people. Now, in 2023 we can proudly state that our farmers’ cooperative has 552 members, we have a primary school, day care center for disabled children, medical and eye vision centers, a vocational training program and, most importantly, more and more farmers believe in organic farming.

Fortunately, with increasing success word gets around, and more people come interested in the Mati approach. In January 2023 we could welcome the representative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany who was impressed with the development that has taken place in Sherpur District.
