Mr. Mukul and neem trees

Mr. Mukul has been working for the Mati Eco Village since its beginning in 1997. And so, you might say, the knows every tree, had seen them grow. Besides the mango and leechee trees that grow on the property, and give shade to the students in the hot months, the stately neem trees are his favorites. ‘It is a medicine tree’, he states. The entire tree including its leaves, flowers, seeds, fruits, roots and its bark are being utilised in traditional medicine for various treatments such as inflammation, infections, fever, skin diseases and even dental disorders.

Also, it is said that the leaves, besides oxygen, evaporate some agent to have a soothing effect to its surroundings – maybe because it also keeps the mosquitos at bay.
